The Evening Echo Ireland Newspaper is an Irish evening newspaper based in Cork. It is distributed throughout the province of Munster, although it is primarily read in its base city of Cork. In Limerick, an altered local edition of the paper is sold. The newspaper was founded as a broadsheet in 1892, and has been published in tabloid format since 1991.
The Evening Echo is owned by Thomas Crosbie Holdings, who also own the Irish Examiner. Unlike the Irish Examiner, which is a national daily, the Evening Echo’s focus is on local news. Its role as the group’s local newspaper was reinforced after the Irish Examiner moved from being the locally based Cork Examiner to being a national paper.
